Quick answer: Find all eight Mortal Shell 2 sidearms, understand their Resolve timing and choose a ranged tool for burst, utility, area control or sustained pressure. Use the numbered sections below for the route, then follow the linked map or entity handoff.
Find all eight Mortal Shell 2 sidearms, understand their Resolve timing and choose a ranged tool for burst, utility, area control or sustained pressure.
Nayleshotte starts the ranged loop
Nayleshotte is awarded during the prologue, so it is the first chance to learn how a sidearm converts Resolve into a ranged action. Use it to build a habit: earn Resolve with safe melee reads, then spend it when the enemy is recovering rather than firing on cooldown.
Clear the early dungeon utility pickups
Forgotten Crossbow comes from Flooded Village, Salvaged Trebuchaxe from Ravaged Hideout and Troubadour’s Lute from One Legged Wolf Tavern. These are different route jobs: single-target burst, heavier area pressure and utility tempo. The best early pickup is the one that fixes the next room, not the one with the loudest name.
Route the mid-game tools around a problem
Triarch Repeater is the sustained-pressure option from Blackwell Cavern. Ballistazooka is a deliberate heavy burst from Sentry’s Grave, while Cursed Child asks for line-of-sight control in Revered Beacon. Use the map markers to bundle each pickup with its nearby Beacon, upgrade stop and boss route.
Finish with Caged Hystrix after Sariel
Caged Hystrix sits in Chamber of Becoming after Sariel and belongs on the late cleanup list. Before spending sidearm upgrade materials at the Obsidian Lathe, choose the Shell pairing and status job you can repeat; all eight remain available in free roam before New Game Plus.
Treat Resolve as part of the sidearm route
Sidearm records are most useful when the projectile has a job: create distance, finish a stagger or apply a status while the enemy is committed. Resolve is earned through damage and spent by weapon abilities, so compare a sidearm with its Shell pairing and Obsidian Lathe route instead of comparing damage in isolation.
